The EMS Story That Was 2020

What a year 2020 has been! So much has happened, not only around the world but also here at EMS and we want to say thank you for your continued support and business through all of the uncertainty this year.

We started 2020 back in our Lakelands office anticipating the finalisation of our new office at the Waters Edge development in nearby Warners Bay. Coincidentally, we were also relocating our Brisbane office during this time. However, by March we found ourselves packing up the Lakelands office only to transition to working from home by the end of that month. Although this was an adjustment for all it was also a great success, as all of our processes and requisites for remote working were already in place and made for a smooth and relatively painless transition. Over the following months, working from home included many Zoom and Teams meetings, the wearing of our comfortable clothes, adding “you’re muted”, “socially distanced” and “unprecedented” to our common vocabulary and the realisation that some people eat meat pies for their morning tea!

During this time, the new EMS office was beginning to take shape with all staff spectating online through shared photos and video walk throughs. Then, after working from home for several months we were able to experience working in our wonderful new Warners Bay office by the end of July and we celebrated with an official office opening in August – the COVID-19 safe way of course! Since then we have loved being positioned close to the shores of Lake Macquarie, as well as the array of cafes in Warners Bay.

Through all of these transitions and disruptions EMS has remained resilient in business and had many things to celebrate. We have been able to keep all of our staff working with no reduced hours, negotiated more electricity and gas contracts, performed energy audits and assessments, assisted with new connections, analysed many renewable projects and even taken on several new clients which we are excited to continue work with in the future. We also managed to attract two new staff members. Ultimately we have saved our clients many millions of dollars and saved significant amounts of energy across a great variety of projects for our vast array of diverse clients around Australia. This not only adds value and reduces waste but also ensures a more sustainable future for us and our children.

Finally, we have just put our Christmas tree up in our finished office space and while this makes us very happy, we close the chapter that has been 2020 and look forward to what 2021 will hold for us and you – our clients and friends.

On behalf of Peter, Murray and the EMS team we want to wish you and your families a safe and fun filled Christmas and holiday season and a happy new year.
