Kitchens for Living (KFL) is a design-driven joinery business that is focused on delivering beautiful, functional spaces located in Newcastle, NSW. Having a solid history of growth, KFL recently transitioned from multiple smaller locations into a purpose-built facility equipped with showroom, office areas, and manufacturing and warehouse spaces.
Once into the new site, KFL were hit with bills averaging $4,160 per month which was a significant jump from their previous premises.
The objective was to:
- minimise monthly electricity expenditures
- embrace renewable energy to align with corporate sustainability goals
- ensure a reliable and efficient energy source for ongoing manufacturing processes.
Kitchens for Living engaged Energy and Management Services to provide an overview of opportunities to reduce energy consumption for both current and potential future expansion.
The first step was to arrange a more cost-effective contract which also entailed a change in billing tariff.
The next step was to source a reputable solar energy provider and propose a tailored solar panel system. The recommended solution entailed the installation of a 99.88kW system on the warehouse rooftop.
Post-solar panel installation, KFL experienced a substantial decrease in monthly electricity expenses, achieving a cost reduction of 46.2%.
The solar system contributed to KFL’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable manufacturing. The reliable and consistent energy supply ensured uninterrupted manufacturing processes, enhancing over operational efficiency.
Over time, it is expected that KFL will be able to further capitalise on the solar generation for greater cost efficiency.
